Climate Neutrality

"The term climate neutrality means living in a way which produces no net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This should be achieved by reducing your own GHG emissions as much as possible, and using carbon offsets to neutralize the remaining emssions."

(Kick the Habit, UN Environment Programme, UNEP, 2008)

How?

Your organisation, event or product achieve climate neutrality by following these steps:

1. Accounting for emissions according to international standard, the so called Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG).
2. Developing an action program to reduce emissions.
3. Compensate for remaining emissions (offset)

Since the start in 2006, about 80 companies and organisations have gone through Respect's climate programs. The programs follow the UN definition for climate neutrality, and calculations are done according to international standards. The organisations are actively working on gradually reducing their influence on the climate.
